CELEBRATION OF THE 11TH INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA 
IN HO CHI MINH CITY, 21.06.2025

(Ho Chi Minh City) – The Consulate General of India in Ho Chi Minh City celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY) – 2025 under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”, at 6:00 AM on 21 June 2025, at Nguyen Hue Walking Street.

This year’s event brought together nearly 1,600 yoga enthusiasts in a mass yoga session, guided by an expert from the Art of Living. The program is jointly organized with the Health Preservation & Yoga Federation of Ho Chi Minh City, with active support from city departments and yoga federations from provinces. It is part of a series of yoga events conducted across 17 provinces and cities in Southern and Central Vietnam, promoting people-to-people ties and raising awareness of the holistic benefits of yoga.

Distinguished guests expected at the event include:

  • Mr. Nguyen Minh Nhut, Deputy Director, Department of Culture and Sports of HCMC

  • Dr. Huynh Thanh Lap, Chairman, Vietnam–India Friendship Association HCMC

  • Mr. Ho Xuan Lam, Vice Chairman cum General Secretary, HCMC Union of Friendship Organizations

  • Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Quyen, Acting Chairman, Health Preservation & Yoga Federation of HCMC

  • Mr. Jay Prakash Shriram, Chairman, INCHAM

  • Mr. Prakash Athrayil, Director, The Art of Living

  • And representatives from the city government departments, agencies, colleagues from diplomatic corp, Indian community, press and media and all 1,600 yoga enthusiasts participated in the 2025 Ho Chi Minh International Day of Yoga.

Speaking at event, the Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City expressed his honor in celebrating with the community. He highlighted this year's theme, "Yoga for One Earth, One Health," emphasizing yoga's holistic role in well-being, stress management, and emotional balance. The Consul General thanked the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee for their support in fostering cultural exchange and acknowledged all who contributed to spreading yoga's positive message for health and peace.

Deputy Director of Department of Culture and Sports appreciated that Yoga, a gift of wisdom from Indian civilization over 5,000 years ago, has now transcended borders to become a universal language of health, serenity, and soulful connection. In Vietnam, especially in the vibrant city of Ho Chi Minh, Yoga has become more than just a sport. It is steadily evolving into a way of life—one that embraces health, mindfulness, and meaningful living. This reflects the beautiful alignment between the spirit of Yoga and the Vietnamese people's aspiration to enhance their quality of life.
